Everyone wants to avoid body odor, but the use of aluminum-containing antiperspirants and chemical-laden deodorants is unacceptable to those who are aware of their potentially harmful effects. Fortunately, many natural deodorants exist that are made from plant extracts and oils.
As part of my effort to replace all household products with safer natural substitutes, I tried a number of natural deodorants before I found one that provided good odor protection. Several on the market just don’t work that well, and will fail you when you need them most.
The most effective deodorant I’ve found for all-day odor control is Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Deodorant. The tea tree oil is responsible for its long lasting effect. Its bactericidal properties kill bacteria at the site of application, which prevents them from breaking down a fatty component of sweat and producing the odor. This deodorant doesn’t simply mask the body odor, it eliminates the source of the problem. It also has a very light and pleasant smell.
According to the manufacturer, “Thursday Plantation deodorant is not based on a possibly harmful astringent which artificially inhibits the normal physiological function of perspiring. It is based on Tea Tree Oil which eliminates putrification bacteria, preventing the bad odour which results from bacterial breakdown of body moisture. Thursday Plantation Aluminium-Free Deodorant will not stop the healthy body function of perspiration, but will stop perspiration odour and create a day-long freshness as a base for customer’s own choice of perfume.”
